The Turkish government is going to sell recreational facilities belonging to different ministries in 21 places, situated mostly in the coastal and green areas, Environment and Urbanization Minister Özhaseki said on Monday.

These recreational facilities have been providing economical holiday opportunities for public employees for several years. Özhaseki commented that this situation is the "bleeding wound" of the Turkish economy. He said that Turkish economy can make big profits by selling those facilities and opening these areas to housing construction.

Özhaseki argued that they will construct 500 thousand new buildings in these areas with a net profit of at least 300 billion Turkish liras. Also noting that the relevant side sectors will also recover from these sales and new constructions, Özhaseki made a sexist comment that "the ladies will not hesitate to buy new furnishings".

"MINISTRY MAKES USE OF RISK OF EARTHQUAKE TO MAKE PROFIT"

soL News Portal interviewed Emre Sevim, the chairperson of the Chambers of City Planners Ankara branch, about the statements of the Environment and Urbanization Minister.

Sevim commented that the recreational facilities of ministries are places where public employees have the chance to recreate themselves without exceeding their budgets. He noted that the AKP government is trying to rip the workers off this right.
