A delegation from the Party for Socialism and Liberation (PSL) from the US visited Turkey's resisting cosmetics workers on September 25 in the industrial Turkish city of Gebze near İstanbul.

Following their meetings with the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) in İstanbul, the PSL delegation has paid a visit of solidarity to the French Yves Rocher-related Flormar workers who have been in resistance in front of the Kocaeli factory for 133 days after they were unlawfully dismissed because of their membership to a trade union.

Stating that the workers' movement in the US is isolated from the worldwide labour struggle, thus such resistances strengthen the struggle in the US, the PSL delegation has promised the Flormar workers to support their resistance with demonstrations to be held around the Yves Rocher stores in the US.

'DETERMINED AND INSPIRING RESISTANCE'

"On behalf of the American workers and their organizations, including the Party for Socialism and Liberation, we are here to show our solidarity and support for your determined and inspiring resistance," the PSL delegation told the Flormar workers, adding that their fight for a union is the fight for dignity for all working peoples, and for basic rights and justice.

"It is not surprising that the capitalists were thinking that they could discourage you with repression and dismissals in fear and despair. But you rose up! You protected your unity and showed your very decisiveness for triumph," the delegation said, stating that the cosmetics workers' resistance inspired the workers around all over the world.

The PSL delegation answered the Turkish workers' questions about the class struggle in the US. The delegation said that the "American dream" turned into a nightmare for the workers who were forced to live under the hunger threshold in the US. Following the solidarity visit to the resisting workers, the delegation met the TKP members from the Gebze district organization for exchanging views on the communists' political struggle around the industrial region.

Eugene Puryear and Brian Becker, the Central Committee members from the PSL, have been in İstanbul for holding a various meeting with the administrators of the TKP. The two party representatives discussed the course of social reactions against the rule of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and the TKP's struggle against the social democratic policies that try to absorb such social reactions.

The PSL delegation was also informed about the TKP's organizational transformation that was at the centre of the party's 2018 Conference convened last week with the title of "To the Workers!". The two fraternal parties discussed the intra-imperialist contradictions, the field works such as the organization of youth, women and LGBT people, and the struggle for peace.
