Sezai Temelli, the co-chair of the pro-Kurdish Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP), and his delegation visited the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜSİAD). After the meeting, Temelli and TÜSİAD President Erol Bilecik issued a joint press statement.

Bilecik said in his statement, "We hosted the very precious HDP co-chair. We have had a chance to address many issues regarding Turkey during our talks. We found an opportunity to discuss in all areas we negotiated particularly economy, social relations, education, investment partnership, promotions and the Kurdish question. I thank them for the visit they paid us."

TEMELLİ: "WE FOUND AN OPPORTUNITY TO PRESENT OUR PROGRAMME"

HDP co-chair Sezai Temelli stated that "We would like to thank especially TÜSİAD president and TÜSİAD members for this kind invitation. We have found an opportunity to present our party programme with them owing to this opportunity."

"We emphasize that Turkey’s most significant problem is lack of democracy. Turkey has to immediately overcome the problem of lack of democracy. June 24 elections has a great importance for Turkey in this sense. If Turkey can overcome the problem of democracy, it will be also a milestone for the solution of all other problems in the country," Temelli said.

"We can initiate a process of establishing a democratic constitution on the basis of equal citizenship based on a parliamentary system amplified by local democracy and the principle of separation of powers with an understanding of human rights and universal law. All segments of Turkey can participate in this process, and thus we can overcome the obstacles for the development of democracy, which is indeed the most significant problem of Turkey," Temelli said.

The parliamentary main opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP)’s leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu had also visited TÜSİAD on May 5 to seek the support of capitalists for the forthcoming elections to be held on June 24.

The organisation was founded by those who represented the conventional capitalist groups just after the March 12 Memorandum in 1971.
