Turkey’s pro-Kurdish HDP party, far-right İyi Party, Islamist Saadet Party and parliamentary main opposition CHP party have found common ground in the June 24 presidential and parliamentary elections.
These political parties along with several trade unions and civil society initiatives to establish what they are calling the "Fair Election Platform."
In a news conference announcing the alliance, members said their purpose is to take "collective steps" to avert tampering at polling stations.
"We, non-governmental organizations, civil initiatives, professional and labor organizations have united our forces in order to ensure a fair and safe election environment, and without any doubt, a reflection of free will onto the polls," read the joint declaration of the platform read aloud in a press conference on May 31 in Ankara.
The platform members said they would establish "a joint press and communication centre" for the election and delegate exclusive observers to the ballot boxes to ensure a simultaneous update of the voting results.
The Constitutional Court rejected the CHP's appeal on May 31, the same day the platform was formed, for the cancellation of the legislative package that stipulates changes in Turkey’s electoral laws, an amendment that paves the way for electoral fraud.
