Pro-Kurdish People’s Democratic Party (HDP) lawmaker Ferhat Encü who was released from jail on Wednesday, was arrested once again on Friday after a prosecutor’s office objected to his release.

Ferhat Encü was arrested since 4 November 2016 and he was on trial by a criminal court with the accusation of “being a member of terrorist organisation”, "making propaganda of terrorist organisation “ and 22 years sentence was requested. He was released on 15 February, however, depending on the opposition of district prosecutor, he has been re-arrested in the southeastern province of Şırnak airport.

A court in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır on February 17 issued an arrest warrant for HDP Diyarbakır deputy İdris Baluken following an appeal against his release in the case filed as part of a terror investigation.

Baluken faces an aggravated life sentence and up to 23 years in prison on four separate charges, namely “disrupting the unity of the state and the country,” “being a member of armed terror organization,” “engaging terror organization propaganda” and “refusing to disperse despite warning in illegal demonstration and marches.”

The prosecutor’s office previously appealed the court decision on Baluken’s release pending trial on Jan. 30 to a higher court.

After reviewing the appeal, the Diyarbakır 1st court of serious crimes on February 17 issued an arrest warrant for Baluken.
