Cemil Bayık, one of the leaders of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) congratulated the newly elected US President Donald Trump for his election victory, and stated that they hope Trump will adopt a policy in favour of his people and humanity as US policies influence the whole world, including Kurdistan territory.

“There is a big war ongoing in the Middle East today as some changes might arise and new balances might be set. US, Russia and other forces are all involved in this battle. We are a part of the Middle East, and not to mention that Kurdistan is a backbone for it. Every policy being pursued in Middle East has an influence on Kurds and the PKK as well. The politics of PKK do also influence entire Kurdistan and the region” he explained to Kurdish Sterk TV.

“We hope US will keep Kurds in mind while implementing its Middle East politics. I believe US will recognize the injustice, atrocity and genocidal policy against the Kurds and the struggle of Kurds against this aggression” Kurdish leader said.

Furthermore, Bayık called on Kurds to sever their ties with the Turkish state in Turkey.

“Our people should know that we have reached the stage of freedom, the reason the war is being waged this much violent for. Our people should no longer live in the Turkish state and sever all their ties with this system. This system will collapse and the society of Turkey will attain peace even sooner in this way” he said.

PKK took up arms for autonomy in southeast Turkey in 1984.
