Syria's Permanent Representative to the UN, Bashar Jaafari, stated that "peace in Syria cannot be established by Washington, Ankara or Riyadh. The peace will be established by the Syrian people" in his talk in the UN Security Council on December, 21.

Stating that they are open to any kind of initiative for the political solution in Syria, Jafaari stressed that the only ones who will ensure peace in the country are the Syrians.

He said that a political solution should open the way for Syrians to make their own decisions without any outside intervention. Jafari also noted that the war of the Syrian people against terrorism reached the last stage. "The international community should help Syrian people in ending the terrorist war ongoing in the country and eliminating the remnants of the terrorist groups".

Jafaari stated that Western countries support terrorist groups in Syria and since 2011, he wrote a total of 750 letters to the UN on the links of the organizations such as the White Helmets to terrorism, but his letters were ignored.

Al-Qaida-linked White Helmets is a so-called "humanitarian aid foundation" that received billions of dollars of financial help from Britain and the USA, which pushed for a regime shift in Syria. The so-called activist group who moved in concert with militants in the field was used as one of the main sources of the news in the western media.

Earlier this week, the Trump administration announced the withdrawal of the approximately 2,000 American troops from Syria, as the US President Donald Trump declared non-existing "American victory in the mission to defeat Islamic State (IS, ISIS)" terrorist there.
