Turkish state-run Anadolu news agency quoted military sources as saying one Turkish soldier was killed and another wounded in clashes with Islamic State (IS) terrorists in Syria's Al-Bab.

66 Turkish soldiers have been killed in the campaign since it started, mostly in IS attacks.

And on Thursday, three Turkish soldiers were killed when a Russian air strike 'accidentally' hit their position in a strike targeting IS fighters in Al-Bab. The Kremlin said Friday that Turkey had provided Russian forces with the target location for an air strike in Syria that accidentally killed three Turkish troops, but Ankara gave a different version of events. The Turkish military said communications had been in full operation and that the army had provided its Russian counterpart with the location of its units ahead of the 'incident'.

Turkey began Euphrates Shield offensive inside Syria in August, targeting both IS and Kurdish militia. After initial rapid progress, the campaign has been mired since December in the deadly fight for Al-Bab.

Turkish troops and allied Free Syrian Army (FSA), have managed to capture just one-tenth of a north Syrian town from Islamic State militants, the Britain-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights monitoring group told AP news agency Saturday, despite reaching its outskirts seven weeks ago.
