Netherlands on Sunday declared Turkish Family and Social Affairs Minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya "undesirable alien," then detained her for deportation to Germany. On Saturday, Kaya was denied entrance to Turkish consulate in Rotterdam.

"I will go to the consulate building. That is a building belonging to my country and I am a minister of that country. There is no such international practice. I don't accept that decision, I reject it and I won't return to Germany," the minister said as quoted pro-government media before being detained by Rotterdam police.

Kaya had traveled from Germany to the Dutch city by car after the Turkish foreign minister was refused entry to the Netherlands earlier Saturday.

NOS broadcast footage of minister Fatma Betül Sayan Kaya stepping out of a car in front of the consulate and being stopped by police when she tried to enter. Kaya was stopped 30 metres from the Turkish consulate and prevented from entering the building, she said on Twitter on Saturday.
