A Turkish court decided to release 13 suspects out of 35, 29 under arrest and all facing charges of “being a member of the Islamic State” and “attempting to overthrow the constitutional order” in an ongoing trial.

All of the suspects confessed to being members of the Islamic State. One of the suspects said that the place which was allegedly used as the IS’ propaganda centre was a small mosque in İstanbul’s Sultanbeyli district. The suspect claimed that the police often controlled this mosque, which is nearby a police station, adding that some police officers told them “they are pleased to see such places”.

Despite the fact that the suspects were on trial on charges of “membership to an armed terror organisation”, the court decided to release 13 of them on parole.
