At an electoral meeting of his party in Ceylanpınar district of Turkey’s southeastern province of Şanlıurfa, Menderes Atilla, the Mayor of Ceylanpınar affiliated to Justice and Development Party (AKP), threatened workers working at the municipality and said, "If they do not vote for our party, it will be a debt of honor for me to remove them from the staff and throw them out of work as before."

In May, pro-government figure Ahmet Maranki has threatened people on May 23 with an armed uprising if the ruling AKP party and its presidential candidate Recep Tayyip Erdoğan lose the elections on June 24.

Maranki revealed in an interview with Islamist Akit TV that they had weapons stash buried in Istanbul’s Belgrade forest.

AKP’s Mayor of Düziçi [a district of Turkey’s southern province of Osmaniye] had similarly threatened municipal staff who would vote "No" in the presidential referendum held on April 16, 2017, which has paved the way for expanding the powers of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
