A Turkish official says the 22-year-old man suspected of bombing concertgoers in Manchester travelled through İstanbul and Dusseldorf, Germany on his way to Britain days before the attack according to the reports.

The government official said Thursday that Salman Abedi flew into İstanbul on May 18 and later departed for Dusseldorf. Turkey received no warning from European countries about the bomber, Salman Abedi, so he was allowed to travel on to Europe, according to the official.

The official would not say which country Abedi had arrived from. The official said, however, that the attacker had on several occasions in the past used İstanbul as a transit for flights between Libya and Europe.

Describing Abedi's movements before the attack, the official said: "There is flight traffic before his arrival to Europe. He travels first to Europe, then to a third country and then to Istanbul and back to Europe."

The official spoke on condition of anonymity because of government rules that bar civil servants from speaking to reporters without prior authorization.

Salman Abedi spent only a short time at Duesseldorf airport's transit area four days before the bombing at Manchester Arena, Duesseldorf police said, confirming an earlier report in German magazine Focus.
