Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed on Friday that Russia, Turkey and Iran were preparing a meeting on Syria at the level of foreign ministers in the Kazakh capital of Astana.

On Monday, Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ said that the three states' ministers would hold a meeting to discuss the Syrian settlement on March 16.

"We are continuing to work in Astana. Now we are preparing a meeting at the level of foreign ministers and will move forward, as UN Security Council Resolution 2254 requires respecting Syria's territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence," Lavrov said at a press conference, without naming any specific date.
