Kemal Okuyan writes on the lies about World War II

When classes and ideologies are replaced with national and regional identities, then what remains is the Russian pride and nationalism, represented by Putin today, in the service of Russia’s ruling class. Nevertheless, there is no continuity but a break and hostility between the Soviet Union, which triumphed over fascism during the Second World War, and today’s Russia; and between the Red Army and today’s Russian army

First Secretary of the CC of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), soL columnist, Kemal Okuyan wrote an article on May 9, 2017, commemorating the Victory Day as well as revealing the anti-communist lies about the World War II.

The lies about the World War II

Paris, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Amsterdam, Brussels…

That should be enough, I suppose. All these are the capitals which left mark on Europe, cities which were also captured by and surrendered to fascism.

72 years have passed since the fall of Nazi Germany; about the lifespan of a human being. A long band a short period… The Soviet Union lost at least 25 millions of her citizens, in that context, the 72-years seem meaningless.

And 72 years after the victory, it is now being said in Paris, Rome, Berlin, Vienna, Budapest, Prague, Amsterdam and Brussels that it was the Soviet Union which was  responsible for the war, that the alliance of Roosevelt and Stalin was a historical mistake, and furthermore,  it was the alliance of the US and the UK which defeated the Nazis.

The operators of the imperialist propaganda mechanisms deserve to be congratulated since they have managed to turn history upside down.

How did they do it?

First, they are shamelessly dishonest,

Second, they  made considerable progress in creating an ignorant and corrupt society,

Third, They never had difficulty in finding allies within the Left, producing useful idiots, Union doesn't

LastlUnion doesn't exist anymore.

I am writing this article from Budapest,  staring at the giant Liberty Statue that casts its shadow on the river Danube... The statue is still standing, visible to everyone while the truth seems to have disappeared. “Hitler was not that bad,” some dare to say freely in Europe.

Under the shadow of the Liberty Statue!

One should not have faltered. One should not have attempted to water down the obvious truths for the sake of diplomacy and realpolitik.

So what are those truths?

Hitler took power in Germany in 1933 not because the communists did not form an alliance with the social democrats, he took power because the anti-communism of the social democrats had become the determining factor, leading to their compromise with the Nazis. The German social democracy had been the executioner that killed the revolution in 1919, paving the way for yet another executioner in 1933. We refrained from stating this fact loud and clear. It was necessary to not upset and scare the social democracy!

Above all, fascism was anti-communism; it was the punishment unleashed by the capitalist class on the proletariat after its failed to seize power in the 1920s. That it was the Jews the capitalist class focused on, pitting people against one another by fueling racist hatred, did not change the following fact: the essence of fascism is the fight against communism. We did not state this fact clearly and loudly enough, because, otherwise, we could not have empathised with liberals and social democrats!

The US and the UK were no more innocent than  Hitler's Germany in the imperialist competition. However, these two imperialist countries were carrying out brilliant manoeuvres in order to absolve themselves of the responsibility of a war that resulted in a massive bloodbath of the Soviet peoples, and they were utilising some spineless, memoryless “libertarian” intellectuals to facilitate these manoeuvres. We made a mistake; we should have continuously put forth the sins committed by the US and the UK. As we failed to do this, some tactlessly dared to identify the Nazi Germany with the Soviets or Stalin with Hitler.

The alliance established during the war between the Soviets, the UK and the US was not only imperative but also temporary from the viewpoint of the three. The alliance was completely rotten due to its complicated class basis. The ideology of alliance was null and void due to the existence of contradictory ideologies within it. The alliance could not agree upon the definition of the enemy. It is not true that “a democratic front” was established against fascism between 1941 and 1945. One of the imperialist sides was defending its own interests while the Soviet Union was defending itself and all of the humanity along with it. It was the Soviet Union that shouldered the burden of the war during these four years, moreover, it was the Soviet Union that kept its promises and observed ethical and diplomatic rules in relation with its allies. On the other hand, it was the US and the UK that triggered a new war (doesn't matter whether it was a hot or a cold war) even before the war with Germany had ended. We just let this truth be forgotten; which is why they were able to replace it with a lie: that the Soviet Union represented the authoritarian world whereas the US represented the free one.

The core of the Second World War consists of the working class fighting against an organised and barbaric enemy that was attempting to end its rule while at the same time defending the whole humanity. That fascism did not attack the communists alone does not change the fact that fascism served the interests of big monopolies and that its main ideology was anti-communism. When classes and ideologies are replaced with national and regional identities, then what remains is the Russian pride and nationalism, represented by Putin today, in the service of Russia’s ruling class. Nevertheless, there is no continuity but a break and hostility between the Soviet Union, which triumphed over fascism during the Second World War, and today’s Russia; and between the Red Army and today’s Russian army. We made mistakes in the past, so did the world communist movement; but if we do not say today, then we will pave the way for newer mistakes. So, let’s clearly say that Putin is a thief of history.

Glory to the Victory Day, glory to the 72nd anniversary of the victory of the army of working people against the horde of barbarians led by the monopolistic capitalism.
