The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) and the New Communist Party of the Netherlands (NCPN) have made a joint declaration to the working people of both countries on the recent crisis between the governments of Turkey and the Netherlands upon the Dutch government’s bans on some Turkish ministers to hold propaganda rallies with Turkish citizens in the Netherlands for the upcoming referendum in Turkey.
Indicating to the escalating tension, the joint declaration states, “Now they [the bourgeois politicians] provoke and play with nationalistic emotions among the people and try to benefit politically out of this tension being escalated.”
REFERENDUM IN TURKEY AND CRISIS OF THE EUROPEAN UNION
The joint statement underlines mutual roles of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the government of the Netherlands within the current crisis: “Erdoğan and his AKP government seem to reckon on creating an ‘external enemy’ with the despair they sank into during the referendum process. On the other hand, government of the Netherlands prefers to play on the xenophobia card in order to overcome the crisis that the European Union undergoes.”
JOINT STRUGGLE FOR SOCIALISM
TKP and NCPN declare that they will stand against imperialist policies of the EU, reminding that rising racism can only be stopped with the unity of the proletariat: “We emphasise that we will struggle in an internationalist consciousness against any practice restricting the rights of the working class and migrant workers.”
Calling the working people to struggle for socialism, the joint declaration concludes, “We point to the impossibility of a better capitalism and the necessity to intensify the struggle for the only choice, socialism.”
