An Islamic State (IS) member from Turkey, who escaped from Tal Afar with his family after the Iraqi military retook the city and who was caught by Peshmerga forces has asked the AKP government for help.

Orhan Sazak escaped from Tal Afar with his family after the Iraqi army retook the city and Peshmerga forces who control the village he took shelter in would not let him pass to Turkey. He reportedly called his father and asked Turkish authorities to rescue him.

Orhan Sazak's father Abdulkerim Sazak went to Iraq to meet with officials from the Turkish Consulate and Peshmerga forces in Erbil. He wanted President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım to help his son benefit from the "repentance law".
