Independent candidate of 'This Social Order Must Change Platform' visits workers on strike

An independent candidate of the "This Social Order Must Change Platform" for the parliamentary election on June 24 visited workers of Ürosan Chemistry Factory who have been on strike against layoffs

Turan Arslan, the independent candidate of "This Social Order Must Change Platform", formed following the call of Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) for the parliamentary election on June 24, visited workers of Ürosan Chemistry Factory in Çorlu district on May 15.

The workers of Ürosan has been on strike against layoffs. The employers fired eight workers on the pretext of lack of raw material stocks. They cut down on the rights of employees, calculated severance allowances from the minimum and announced that they will pay severance allowances by instalments. The workers started a strike at midnight on May 15 upon the illegal decisions of the employers. The workers are going to decide whether to continue their struggle according to the result of the meeting between the employers and the workers' union.

Turan Arslan, the independent candidate of "This Social Order Must Change Platform" for the parliamentary election on June 24, visited workers of Ürosan the same night their strike began to support them. Addressing to the workers Arslan said the workers do not give up struggling despite a government that boasts of putting a ban on working class struggles. Arslan added "Pro-capitalist candidates side with the employers, but we will keep being on working class' side."

"This Social Order Must Change Platform" started electoral meetings with independent communist candidates in many cities following the call of Communist Party of Turkey.TKP decided to participate in the parliamentary election on June 24 with independent candidates after the Supreme Election Council’s (YSK) unlawful prevention of the TKP in the elections with its name and emblem. The independent candidates will participate in the parliamentary voting in 17 electoral districts, the country’s most populated and industrial provinces such as İstanbul, Ankara, İzmir, Bursa, Adana, Antalya, Konya, Kocaeli and Diyarbakır. The candidates of "This Social Order Must Change Platform"  will run election campaigns through the platform, including TKP members and its friends.
