Grocery chain fires 1,500 workers

Şaypa, one of the largest grocery store chains in the northwestern province of Bursa fires more than half of its workers in 81 stores by firing 1,500 workers and reducing the number of its stores to 69.

The grocery chain had changed hands in November 2016. The new owners of the chain fired 1500 out of 2700 workers in 81 stores and closed down 12 of them as local media reported.

The firings had started in September 2016.
