The flag used by Free Syrian Army (FSA) terrorist group in Syria was taken down after the opposition of the students.

The group opened a stand using the flag of Free Syrian Army (FSA), one of the armed groups which initiated the war in Syria and carried out numerous massacres. The group that claimed to represent Syria used the three-starred flag of FSA instead of the Syrian flag with two red stars. After many students opposed, FSA flag was taken down.

Communist Youth of Turkey members made a statement about the incident and stated they would never let the activities of jihadist groups at the universities.

The Turkish Armed Forces started the Operation Euphrates Shield with FSA terrorist group in Syria on August 24, 2016. The operation, aimed at supporting the FSA, pushing IS from Turkish borders and stopping the advance of Kurdish militants, ended in March.
