Five people died after a boat carrying illegal migrants capsized off Turkey's northwestern coast on Sunday, state-run Anadolu news agency reported.

The Turkish coastguard found the bodies after the rubber vessel sank off the Enez district in Edirne province, the agency said.

Fearing the numbers on board could be higher, the coastguard continued search and rescue efforts, it added.

No further details on the incident were provided.

On a related note, at least 402 irregular migrants were detained across Turkey, security sources said on Sept. 28.
