Cuban socialism maintains its revolutionary path for which Fidel dedicated his whole life

November 25 marked the first anniversary of Fidel Castro's death, the commander in chief of the Cuban Revolution. Fidel is being commemorated with his revolutionary legacy in Cuba and throughout the world.

Fidel was a leader who had been the embodiment of the revolutionary struggle, and the people of Cuba declares that Fidel's legacy lives in every Cuban people by saying "I am Fidel". This slogan has also been claimed by millions of people around the world thanks to the revolutionary solidarity of Cuba with other countries and peoples.

Numerous medical doctors raised by the Cuban socialism, breakthrough in cancer treatment, almost eliminated infant mortality rates, and free of charge public services are all accomplished in Fidel's Cuba despite the imperialist blockade of the US. These facts lay behind why Cuban people are committed to socialism.

Today, the people of Cuba demonstrates its commitment to Fidel by defending the Cuban revolution and socialism.

The youth of Cuba, as the future of Cuban socialism, came together in a series of cultural activities organized by the Union of Communist Youth across Cuba to commemorate Fidel.

The Communist Party of Cuba also initiated a collective activity to affirm the dedication of Cuban people to socialism. Cubans signed their names below Fidel's words at more than a thousand points throughout the country. These words of Fidel were from his landmark speech he delivered on the International Workers' Day in 2000 in Havana. "Revolution means to have a sense of history; it is changing everything that must be changed. It is modesty, selflessness, altruism, solidarity and heroism. Revolution means unity; it is independence. It is fighting for our dreams of justice for Cuba and for the world, which is the foundation of our patriotism, our socialism and our internationalism", Fidel said in his iconic speech.

Cuban friends also gathered in Ankara, İzmir and İstanbul provinces of Turkey in commemoration events organized by the José Martí Cuba-Turkey Friendship Association. Ankara ambassador of Cuba Luis Alberto Amaros Núñez and ICAP vice chairman Elio Sotero Neyra Gamez attended the events where the documentary "Fidel es Fidel" was screened. As part of the commemoration event in İstanbul, the renowned Fidel photograph collection of Roberto Chile was displayed.

Cuban friends in Turkey declared their will to maintain Fidel's legacy by propagating the gains of socialist Cuba in Turkey.
