Father on hunger strike to retrieve body of his murdered son

70-year-old Kemal Gün has been on hunger strike for 81 days to retrieve body of his son who was killed in airstrike in Dersim

Kemal Gün’s son Murat Gün was among 11 members of Revolutionary People's Liberation Front (DHKC) who were killed in an airstrike by the Turkish army. Since November 2016, the corpses of 5 DHKC members including Murat Gün are missing.

According to Dihaber, 70-year-old Kemal Gün who has been on hunger strike for 81 days to retrieve the body of his son lost 13 kilos, suffers from myolysis and has vision loss in his left eye. "I will not give up even if I die. My last wish in this world is my son to have a grave" he says.

Kemal Gün was fined 227 TL for every day he sits at Seyit Rıza Square in Dersim for the hunger strike. The total fine is now more than 18,614 TL.
