A group of fascists attempted to attack the members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) selling the weekly journal of the Party in the coastal town of Erdek in the Marmara region. The local organisation of the Party made a declaration following the attack attempt.

A group of 50-60 fascists attempted to attack the members of the TKP selling the weekly newspaper ‘Boyun Eğme’ in the north-western town of Erdek of the Balıkesir Province of Turkey. The local organisation of the Party in the coastal town made a declaration following the attempt on June 10, 2017.

The attack attempt of the fascist group equipped with baseball bats, clubs, and cutlery objects had not frightened the members of the TKP and the communist continued selling the weekly.

The Bandırma, a city close to Erdek, county organisation of the TKP made a declaration following the attack attempt on Saturday. It is stated that ‘TKP will not surrender to such attacks and the flag of the socialism will be waved everywhere.’

In the declaration, it is also mentioned that ‘TKP will keep on standing against fascism and religionist reactionism, and continue its struggle.’
