The Ministry of National Education (MEB) will teach the failed July 15 coup to pre-school children, who are uneducated yet, within the scope of the "summer training Program".

MEB asked that 54-56-month children, who are in the candidate list for enrollment to primary school, should be listed and enrolled in summer training program before September 2017. In the summer training program, children are responsible for developing their cognitive, language, social, emotional and motor development skills as well as self-care abilities.

In this context, summer training programs aim to provide children to say their names and surnames, to know their parents’ names and professions, to count the numbers between 1 and 20, to use the words regarding courtesy, to learn the rhythmic counting, and to learn simple concepts such as "empty-full", "happy-sad" or "easy-hard".

THE FAILED JULY 15 COUP TO BE TAUGHT UNDER THE NAME OF ‘SPECIAL DAYS AND WEEKS’

Turkey’s National Education has also ordered to be taught the failed coup attempt in Turkey in 2016 under the name of ‘Special Days and Weeks’ as the July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day to pre-school children.

Attempting to put the July 15 coup attempt last year into curriculums of all basic educational levels, the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) aims to constitute a new historiography for Turkey under Turkish-Islamist synthesis by rewriting the past. The Turkish government, which is accused by critics of attacking democratic freedoms with a large number of arrestments and censorship on media since the failed coup in 2016, is also in the search of raising a "pious and vindictive generation".
