Selçuk Bayraktar, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's son-in-law, appealed to the court for the censoring of a news by soL news regarding the appointment of his friend as a vice minister at Erdoğan's new cabinet.

The news was blocked just a couple of hours later following the court's decision.

The court decided to impose censor on some news portals broadcasting in Turkey under the pretext of violating personal rights, quoting news heading like "Pamper to little son-in-law". However, the censored news of soL news does not include any words listed by the court as violating personal rights, showing that the court had decided to censor the news without reading it.

The news by soL included the information "Erdoğan who has been assigning names close to his family to vice ministerial positions following June 24 elections, has taken a similar step for the position of his chief advisor."  Yıldız, assigned as Erdoğan's chief advisor, is also the chairman of the board of trustees in Okçular Vakfı (Foundation of Archers). Erdoğan's son Bilal Erdoğan has been a frequenter at the Foundation of Archers.

Erdoğan also assigned other names close to his family as vice ministers and rectors; his cousin İbrahim Er as vice minister of education; his son-in-law Berat Albayrak's close friend Prof. Dr Nuri Aydın as the Cerrahpaşa campus rector of İstanbul University.
