Russian President Vladimir Putin discussed economic and trade ties by phone with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on Friday, the Kremlin said in a statement.
"President Vladimir Putin held phone talks with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. [The parties] discussed the current state and prospects of further developing mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation between the two countries and gave their positive assessment of the implementation of joint strategic projects, primarily in the energy sector," the Kremlin said in a statement.
The call happened after U.S. President Donald Trump said he had authorised higher tariffs on imports from Turkey, imposing a 20 percent duty on aluminium and 50 percent one on steel.
