Erdoğan hopes to discuss Syria de-escalation zones situation with Russia, Iran- Spox

Ankara expects the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran to discuss at the meeting in Russia's southern Black Sea resort of Sochi steps to reduce the level of violence in Syria in light of the agreements reached in Astana, as well as the situation in the de-escalation zones, an adviser to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said.

"According to the agreements reached in Astana, the presidents of the three guarantor countries will discuss in Sochi the steps in the region to reduce violence, the situation in the de-escalation zones, the delivery of humanitarian aid, as well as the contribution that the guarantor countries may make to the Geneva process for political settlement in Syria," İbrahim Kalın said in a statement said.

'THE AGENDA IS SYRIA'

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov confirmed on Thursday the upcoming meeting of the leaders of Russia, Turkey and Iran.

"It is confirmed. The talk is about the countries guarantors of the Syrian settlement. The agenda is Syria," Peskov told reporters when asked whether the Sochi summit was confirmed in the Russia-Iran-Turkey format, and what its agenda could be.
