Turkish President Tayyip Erdoğan conveyed his priorities and expectations on Syria and other regional issues to U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson in a meeting on Thursday, a Turkish presidential source said.

Erdoğan and Tillerson also discussed Iraq, regional developments and the fight against terror, the source said.

Tillerson and Erdoğan had a "productive, open conversation" about a mutually beneficial way to improve U.S.-Turkey relations, a State Department spokesman travelling with Tillerson said.

Tillerson is on a two-day working visit to Turkey. He is expected to meet his Turkish counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu on Friday to discuss bilateral relations and international developments.
