Police detained six suspects after the collapse of a copper mine killed at least five people in the southeast.

One of the detainees was the mine manager and police were searching for another suspect.

The mine is reportedly owned by a private company.

In 2014, Turkey experienced its worst-ever modern industrial massacre in which 301 miners were killed when a fire broke out at Soma coal mine in the western part of the country.

Turkey has a well-above-average rate of fatalities in its mines with the vast majority of casualties coming in private mines.
