Local media reported that Beyza Gülmen, the sister of Nuriye Gülmen, and some representatives of mass organisations will be on a 24 hours hunger strike as an act of solidarity with Beyza Gülmen's sister and Semih Özakça.

Speaking on the public statement starting up the hunger strike, Beyza Gülmen said the AKP government has been denying even the basic rights of the people. Beyza Gülmen noted that the people will not get used to the injustices of the AKP government and called on the people to be in solidarity with the two educators on hunger strike.

Nuriye Gülmen and Semih Özakça are two educators dismissed unlawfully from their jobs with statutory decrees of Turkey's AKP government. The two educators have been on a hunger strike to claim back their job and protest AKP government's unlawful practices.
