Crisis or downfall of capitalism?

"A political organisation that has not established a place within each and every vein of the society, that does not take part in working-class struggles, that does not hold a place within the mind and conscience of the working people cannot manage and have the right to intervene in the downfall"

Erhan Nalçacı, soL news columnist and central committee member of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP), reviewed the ongoing economic and political crisis around the world through the examples of Brazilian elections, the murder of Khashoggi and the like. Jamal Khashoggi was a Saudi citizen, a Washington Post writer murdered in the Saudi Consulate in İstanbul at the beginning of October.

A crisis or a downfall?

Distinguishing between a crisis and a downfall has always been important in working class politics.

We identify a multi-dimensional and a deep crisis now when we look at the world and Turkey. This is a political, ethical and economic crisis.

Brazilian elections are the first current example that comes to our minds when we think of the political crisis.

It is highly possible that Bolsonaro, whose fascist mindset is no secret to anyone, will be elected after the second round on October 28. The aggression of Bolsonaro supporters in the streets has marked the election period.

To undo a false notion, we have to note that the Brazilian bourgeoisie was in power too during the long rule of the Workers' Party for 13 years. The Workers' Party did nothing to change the mechanisms of exploitation except for allocating some economic "support" share for the poor working classes from the national income. The bourgeoisie of all countries that aim to rise within the imperialist system and gain a new position has to allocate a share for the working classes.

It seems that the intervention of the US and that the Brazilian bourgeoisie set an eye on this social allocation in a time of deepening crisis paved the way for a fascist candidate and a party.

We will see what kind of a regime will be established with Bolsonaro's rule. Most probably, this crisis in Brazil will not be limited with the national borders but result in an increased aggression towards Venezuela and Cuba.

Another current example of the crisis is the unavoidable rupture within the EU.

Following the deep crisis with Hungary, a political crisis occurred when Italy allocated some more for the social expenditures from the state budget. The national bourgeoisie of the EU tends to act in line with their interests for the near future. It is getting more difficult to cover the ever-growing racist, fascist and nationalist politics by means of the deceitfulness of bourgeois democracy.

In addition to these, the ethical crisis of the imperialist world has become impossible to hide after the murder of Khashoggi. The managers of almost all trade monopolies participated in the meeting organised by the state of Saudi Arabia responsible for the planned murder and they all signed investment agreements worth 50 billion dollars within two days. Russia chose to ignore the murder since they will be in control of the oil markets with the Saudis.

We know for a long time that capitalism is in a structural crisis and neither its symptoms nor reasons can be handled within the limits of this article. However, the severity of the situation will be clear when we share data from their own resources.

JPMorgan, a US-based and one of the biggest financial monopolies of the world, calculated the possibility of an economic recession of the US as 60% within two years and 80% within three years. We have to keep in mind that we are not talking about any country but the one still at the top of the imperialist hierarchy.

Even this current and superficial compilation shows the dimensions of the crisis, and yet it does not indicate a downfall yet.

The people are directed towards ballot boxes everywhere to elect politicians who can somehow manage this crisis.

Unlawful murders and robberies are still not possible. That's how the mechanisms of exploitation that form the fundamentals of robberies can proceed ordinarily in all its harshness.

They are still able to roll over their debts and make capital gains from sloppy pieces of paper.

They still make rehearsals of war and yet cannot afford a war that can devalue the capital in mass.

We cannot say that this creates a chance for the political vanguards of the working class in every part of the world. A political organisation that has not established a place within each and every vein of the society, that does not take part in working class struggles, that does not hold a place within the mind and conscience of the working people cannot manage and have the right to intervene in the downfall.

This means that this interim till the downfall has to be made use of without wasting a single second of it.
