Workers at a state hospital construction zone stopped working to protest that they could not receive their salaries for a long time. The workers blocked the building site on August 6 in the industrial district of Gebze, near İstanbul.

"They promised us to make payments as of tomorrow yet we know that they would not grant our rights," said the workers who were not paid for the last three months.

The workers said that they had no option other than work stoppage, adding that the employers rejected to pay the salaries and compensations. One of the workers stated that he could not get his dues for about three months.

"We know that they will not let us enter the construction site," the workers said, yet they cannot resort to legal procedures because they are not dismissed officially.

Some workers are payroll employee while some others are subcontractors. The workers who stopped working to protest the working conditions are waiting inside and outside of the construction site. They said that they would not leave the worksite until they receive their salaries and occupational rights.
