The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) released a statement about the case against Cumhuriyet newspaper. In the statement, it is said "what will bring Turkey to a bright future is convicting AKP and all its accomplices in front of the public. The only power that can accomplish this in Turkey is working people who will confront ruling AKP party and its accomplices as an organized class.”

The statement is as follows:

Cumhuriyet cannot be judged.

Justice and Development Party and all its accomplices should be judged.

The case against Cumhuriyet newspaper was dismissed when the indictment was announced. Destroying the indictment with their defences, Cumhuriyet staff showed once again that this trial is invalid.

Being a crime machine from head to toe, AKP doesn’t have the authority to judge anyone. AKP is an anti-revolutionary organization overthrowing the republic. The crimes AKP committed while attacking republican values are countless.

AKP was not alone when committing these crimes.

AKP overthrew the republic with capitalists and for capitalists who could not carry the values of the Republic of 1923 anymore. If the journalists are being attacked with silly indictments today, this is owing to capitalists.

The West that says, “release the journalists” to AKP today is an accomplice of AKP government. They have the biggest responsibility for AKP’s current power. For this reason, the West asking for freedom for journalists is hypocritical.

The fact that AKP uses the well-known methods of the Gulen sect when judging the opposition is the best indicator of these two crime organizations are one and same. AKP is using Gulenist methods even when it accuses Cumhuriyet newspaper with Gulenism. For this reason, the crimes of AKP and Gulen movement cannot be separated.

What unites AKP and its accomplices is being part of this system.

AKP will be judged in this country for all its crimes.

But what will bring Turkey to a bright future is convicting AKP and all its accomplices in front of the public.

The only power that can accomplish this in Turkey is working people who will confront AKP and its accomplices as an organized class.
