The Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) has shared a message after the National Assembly and Council of State elections in Cuba, and congratulated the Cuban people and their newly elected representatives, who have maintained protecting their country.
"Let the outcome disappoint the imperialists, we are hopeful. Our Cuban comrades, Cuban women, youth, labourers are well-aware of their tough task ahead. They will uplift their country with their dedication and loyalty to the values of the revolution, we have no doubt about it," TKP said in a written statement.
"The Cuban people, who have stood out against the blockade, sabotages of all kinds, lies of the imperialist press and who were able to create an advanced human development despite all these, will not bow down as never did before, neither today nor in the future," it added.
Miguel Diaz-Canel replaced Raul Castro as the new leader of Cuba after the country's National Assembly of People's Power approved his candidacy for the post of the president of the Cuban Council of State.
The council of 31 deputies, made of workers, students, women, and peasants, confirmed the nomination of Miguel Diaz-Canel.
TKP said in the statement that the party strengthen its decades-long solidarity with Cuban people in the upcoming period.
"Cuba will raise upon the hands of millions of brave and devoted Cubans, each of whom declared “I am Fidel” after his loss on 25th of November, 2016.The Cuban people will defend and improve socialism without any hesitation, will continue to act as a friend of and an example for all nations," the statement underlined.
"President Díaz-Canel is right, the Cuban Revolution continues and will continue!"
