The Communist LGBTs’ statement against the ban on İstanbul LGBT Pride rally pointed out the fact that İstanbul Governor's Office has described hate speech and threats against the LGBT community as “sensibility of the society” shows the reactionary nature of the ban.

It was stated that homophobia and transphobia are problems of the system, as the capitalism cannot survive without dividing labourers and setting one against the other. The statement notes the system needs to inject homophobia to the working class and confine LGBTs inside ghettos.

President Tayyip Erdoğan’s calls to families to have at least 3 children in order to continue cheap labour also indicate how the system wants to regulate the workers’ sexual life and LGBTs are obviously incompatible for this, the statement says.

The Communist LGBTs emphasised that the reactionism is demanded by the ruling class and undermining laicism, organising social life with the support of religious cults and trying to make LGBT community invisible are natural extensions of this demand.

The statement noted that the ban on LGBT Pride rally is totally illegitimate and no one can terminate the pride of LGBTs and the struggle of the working class.
