One of the chairpersons of the Ensar Foundation, known for sexual abuse of children within its student residences, became a judge following the examination for lawyers to become judges. 800 lawyers who had ties to the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) were recruited, according to the main opposition.

Ercan Poyraz, lawyer and the chairperson of the Ankara branch of the Ensar Foundation, known for sexual abuse of children within its student residences, became one of the 1341 judges recently recruited through the examination for lawyers. According to one of the prominent deputies of Republican People’s Party’s (CHP), 800 of the judges have ties to AKP.

Ensar Foundation also caused an outrage among the public earlier last year, due to molestation of more than 40 children in houses belonging to the Foundation and the Association of Graduates of Religious Vocational High-Schools (KAİMDER). The incident broke out when one of the children refused to go to school and then was taken to visit a psychiatrist. The government, afterwards, imposed a broadcast ban on the news about this incident.  The foundation is supported by AKP and the President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
