Workers who had been fired from a factory of the US-based sugar company Cargill in Bursa, Turkey, for unionising started to march towards the Cargill headquarters in İstanbul on September 13, the 150th day of their resistance, but they were intercepted by the police, and some were taken into custody

Having spent the night in the Gebze district of the city of Kocaeli on September 16 after visiting the workers fired by Flormar for unionising, the Turkish initiative of the international cosmetics monopoly Yves Rocher, the workers went on their march the following day. However, police forces intercepted the walk and took some of the workers into custody.

Several of the workers made short statements for soL News, noting that they expected the administration of Cargill to correct the mistake and reinstate the ones fired for unionising, and highlighting that “those who resist will win, not those who beg”.

US-based sugar monopoly Cargill had fired 14 workers under the pretext of “reduction” and “shrinkage” for unionising in the Orhangazi district of the Bursa city. The workers had gone to the headquarters twice before, reading press statements in front of the building, but they had received no responses from the company.
