The Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor has imposed a broadcast ban after a man suspected of being an Islamic State (IS) suicide bomber killed a police officer while in custody on August 13 in İstanbul.

A broadcast ban has been imposed by the Office of the Chief Public Prosecutor after a suspected suicide bomber of ISIS who was taken into custody stabbed and killed a police officer at the İstanbul Police Headquarters.

No explanation has been made about why the police officers did not search the ISIS suspect beforehand.

Mustafa Çalışkan, who is the Provincial Police Chief of İstanbul, has released a statement regarding the issue. Failing to explain how the suspected ISIS terrorist had been let in while carrying a knife, Çalışkan said that the person taken into custody was an internationally wanted terrorist, and that they believed that the police had prevented a very large terrorist attack.
