Members of the Communist Party of Turkey (TKP) were attacked by a fascist group on February 18.

In the northern city of Samsun, TKP members were distributing the weekly journal of the party as part of their campaign against the upcoming referendum on the presidential system as a fascist group attacked them, breaking the nose of a party member. The headline of the weekly read "Not enough, but No!", referring to the stance of TKP on the referendum.

TKP released a statement on the assault, stating that such fascist militants and reactionaries are encouraged by their leader President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The statement called on the people to join the ranks of socialist struggle.

DENIZBANK FILES OFFICIAL COMPLAINT AGAINST TKP

In Gayrettepe district of Istanbul, TKP members were taken to a police station upon the complaint of Denizbank managers and attorneys.

TKP members were distributing leaflets censuring the bank management for anti-labour working conditions and calling on the workers to organize against it. Bank managers and attorneys, highly disturbed by the act, first filed an official complaint against TKP members and then dropped the charges.
