Devlet Bahçeli, Chairperson of Turkey’s fascist Nationalist Movement Party demands amnesty for fascist hitmen, while capitalists are granted amnesty for fraud

Devlet Bahçeli, Chairperson of the far-right Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), which is in alliance with the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) for the upcoming elections on June 24, demanded the release of Alaattin Çakıcı and Kürşat Yılmaz, two imprisoned fascist mafia leaders. Referring to the hitmen as "our heroes", Bahçeli also called for amnesty for those who are "prisoners of fate"

Turkey’s President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, on the other hand, stated in a press release: "Mr Bahçeli is entitled to his opinions. We do not have such plans."

However, Yalçın Topçu, Principal Consultant of the President, said that they have been receiving a great number of demands from the families of the "prisoners of fate," and that it is an issue "worth discussing and talking about".

Nevertheless, Barış Yarkadaş, deputy of the parliamentary opposition Republican People’s Party (CHP), claimed that Devlet Bahçeli was preparing people for an amnesty, the draft of which is already in progress. Yarkadaş explained that Bekir Bozdağ, the Deputy Prime Minister, and Abdulhamit Gül, the Minister of Justice, have been working in the presidential palace on a draft to grant an amnesty.

Yarkadaş also stated that the draft included the release of 100.000 convicts who have less than 5 years of the sentence.

Yarkadaş said: “AKP, on the other hand, builds 52 more prisons instead of wiping off the conditions that create crime.” Through amnesty, he added, “AKP plans to reduce the intensity of criticisms and decrease the number of victims before the elections.”

However, there seems to be no discussions about whether to give amnesty to capitalists about their frauds. A new amnesty regulation draft prepared by the government as an "electoral preparation" involves granting amnesty to capitalists who deceive the Social Security Institution and the Ministry of Finance, who committed illicit employment, and who concealed their profits. Owners or shareholders of companies as such can declare their goods and money to the government by paying %3 tax, and in this way, can also throw off any retrospective investigations.

Another "campaign" of the government for the elections is to grant zoning amnesty to the owners of 15 million buildings on the seashore in İstanbul.
