The youth branch of the Justice and Development Party (AKP) is sending Prime Minister signed propaganda letters to high school students to say 'yes' on the April 16 Turkish constitutional referendum.

AKP government has extended the scope of propaganda for the referendum that will take place on April 16 with the aim of entrusting President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with greater authorities.

AKP’s youth branch is sending letters to high school students, which are undersigned by Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.

Referring to one of the articles of the referendum package projecting the lowering of the age of candidacy from 25 to 18, the letter reads: “It will be possible for our 7 million young brothers to actively participate in politics. As the youth, you are the future of this country. You will not be a mere spectator, but take responsibility.”

Referring to a famous aphorism by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Republic of Turkey, the letter states: “I want you to support the goal of reaching the level of contemporary civilisations with saying ‘yes’ on April 16.”
