2 miners killed, 13 miners injured by methane entrapment

It was determined that there was a significant amount of methane entrapment inside the mine that belongs to a private mining company on Tuesday in the Kemer district of the city of Antalya, Turkey.

20-25 workers were reported to work in a shift in the mine. 7 were affected by the entrapment, who had ambulatory treatment. 6 workers were taken to a hospital, while 2 workers, Levent Korkmaz (39) and Esen Çavuş (35) were trapped inside, approximately 900 meters deep.

Many health and search and rescue teams were sent to the site, and the rescue work continued until 3 am. The rescue teams of the Disaster Relief Agency (AFAD) reached the bodies of the two workers at 830 meters deep, who were suspected to have died of being exposed to excessive amount of methane.
