According to the Russian center for reconciliation of conflicting sides and refugee migration monitoring in Syria, 1.7 million Syrian refugees who are currently registered in different countries are willing to return Syria.

As reported by the Russian news agency TASS, the daily bulletin published by the center wrote that "It is estimated that 1,712,264 Syrian nationals in ten countries voiced their desire to come back home".

Since September 30, 2015, 389,735 Syrians in total have returned to their homes, the bulletin said.

According to the UN Refugee Agency, Turkey hosts more than half of the Syrian refugees, 3.6 million people. Following Turkey, Lebanon hosts around 1 million Syrian refugees and Jordan has 700 thousand.

EU countries agreed in 2016 to give Turkey at least 3 billion euros in Syrian refugee aid money and other incentives to persuade the government in Ankara to stop migrants leaving for Greece.
